Assam is all set to enforce the National Food Security Act across the state from 24th of this month. The state government yesterday said, subsidised rice will be provided to 2 crore forty lakh people, under the Food Security Act. It said, 60 per cent population from the towns and 84 per cent of the people living in villages will be benefited. According to the Act, every eligible person will get 5 kilogram of rice every month at the cost of 3 rupees per kilogram.
