The Gauhati High Court today kept in abeyance on all decisions taken by the Arunachal Pradesh assembly yesterday in which it removed Speaker of the assembly Nabam Rebia. Hearing a writ petition filed by the Speaker, Justice Hrishikesh Roy has passed this order. The Speaker Mr. Rebia has filed the petition challenging the notification issued by the Governor on advancing the state assembly session. The next hearing will be held on 1st of February next year.

Issuing notice, Justice Roy kept in abeyance the impugned decisions including the notification issued by the Deputy Speaker restoring the membership of 14 suspended MLAs. The Judge also put a stay on the holding of the Arunachal Pradesh session at a new place and also to remove the Speaker.

Meanwhile, reacting to the development, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee  has welcomed the decision of Guwahati High Court and stated that the decision of the Governor was unconstitutional and guided by interests outside the ambit of his gubernatorial duties. It also appeals the Governor not indulge in excessive interference in executive affairs of the state.
