rajya sabhaThe Rajya Sabha remained paralysed for the third day today with Congress members forcing its repeated adjournments on Arunachal Pradesh Governor’s issue. The House was adjourned thrice before being adjourned finally for the day. When the House re-assembled at 3 PM, Sharad Yadav of the JD(U) said the House is not functioning for the last two days and there is no response from the Government.

Anand Sharma of the Congress charged the BJP with indulging in destabilization of an elected government in the North Eastern State. Senior Congress leader Motilal Vora alleged political developments in Arunachal Pradesh are clear violation of the Constitution. D Raja of the CPI said the House has the right to know what is happening in Arunachal Pradesh. K C Tyagi of the JD(U) called for discussion on the subject.

Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptullah asked the agitating members not to disrupt the House and if they have any issue, they should discuss with the Chairman. Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien informed the members that a substantive motion to take up discussion on the governor is under consideration of the Chairman.

The issue also figured in the Lok Sabha with Congress members remaining in the well and shouting slogans in the pre-lunch session. However, in the post lunch session, the House conducted the listed business after Congress MPs staged a walkout.
