Xiaomi will launch its next budget smartphone the Redmi Note 5A, in China on Monday August 21. The retail packaging of the phone had leaked a few days back, followed by an official confirmation by the company of an August 21 launch.
Lei Jun, Chiarman and CEO of Xiaomi, unveiled images of the upcoming Note 5A on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo.
The upcoming Redmi Note 5A is expected to come in two variants: one featuring the fingerprint sensor at the back while another without one.

As per Chinese certification site TENAA, the two variants are codenamed as MDT6 and MDT6S. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A may feature the 5.5-inch HD display, a metal unibody with a Snapdragon 425 processor under its hood. It is likely to feature a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB inbuilt storage.
The handset will also have an expandable storage through a MicroSD card by up to 128GB. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is most likely to run Android Nougat 7.1.1 with MIUI 8 on top and it will support dual-sim.
