Gujarat Congress has moved its MLAs to Congress-ruled Karnataka to apparently keep them intact in the party for the Rajya Sabha polls scheduled for the 8th of next month.
The MLAs are currently in a resort in Bidadi near Bengaluru. The operation is being monitored by AICC General Secretary incharge of Karnataka KC Venugopal.
Most of the MLAs have already reached Bengaluru, while some who are not willing to continue with Congress are refusing to move.
The task has been given to party MLA and newly-appointed Chief whip Shailesh Parmar. Sources said, there are 44 MLAs who have been moved.
Congress needs 46 votes out of its total strength of 57 MLAs in the 182 members’ house.
However, 6 MLAs have already switched their loyalty towards BJP, while 2 MLAs are with former Congress legislative party leader Shankarsinh Vaghela.
