Madras High Court has asked all educational institutions to sing the National Song Vande Mataram at least once a week.
Hearing a petition today, the Court also directed Government and private offices and establishments to air the song in their premises once every month to stir up patriotic fervour among the public.
It further said a person who has difficulty in singing the national song will not be compelled or forced to sing it, provided there are valid reasons.
The court has also suggested uploading the translated version of Vande Mataram on all Government websites and social media handles in different languages.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is hearing a petition asking the Centre to make the singing of Vande Mataram mandatory in schools.
