Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P J Kurien today urged BSP Chief Mayawati to reconsider her decision of resignation from the Upper House.

Responding to BSP MP Satish Chandra Mishra’s allegations that she was not allowed to speak on the issue of atrocities against dalits which agitated her to resign, Prof Kurien said all have a lot of respect for her and no one is happy with the yesterday’s episode. He said the incident was due to communication gap and it is the desire of the House that the BSP Chief should take her resignation back. Leader of opposition, Ghulam Nabi Azad also seconded the Deputy chairman over the issue.

Yesterday, Ms Mayawati had resigned from the Upper House alleging that she was not allowed to speak on the issue of atrocities against dalits.
