RAMGARH LYNCHING

AMN /New Delhi

The Congress today termed as ‘’eye wash’’ the Prime Minister’s statement against the killing of people in the name of cow protection.

“This statement has been made for publicity and under public pressure following protests held across the country yesterday against the lynching of innocent people,’’ senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said soon after Mr Modi’s remarks.

Mr Azad said the Prime Minister’s statement was only for TV and it was just an eyewash as never takes any action in such matters. He said it was only after the whole country was on streets that the Prime Minister felt the compulsion to react.

CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury also said that the Prime Minister’s words carry no value as the incidents of lynching in the name of cow protection were going on. ‘PM’s words have no value as proved by another incident in Jharkhand. Politics of hatred and divisiveness has to be repudiated and defeated,’Mr Yehury tweeted. ‘Pressure from the public has forced PM to break silence on lynchings but these words are meaningless unless followed by action by BJP govts,’ he said in another tweet.

Speaking at a function held the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the Sabarmati Ashram at Ahemdabad, Mr Modi had said ,’ I want to express my anger and anguish on the current atmosphere in the country….no one has the right to kill any human being in the name of cow protection. …Whether someone is innocent or guilty in a matter related to cow should be decided by law and no one has the right to take the law into one’s hand.’’

AAP attacks BJP over rising cases of lynching

AMN / New Delhi

Taking a dig at the BJP ruled Centre,

The ruling AAP Thursday raised the issue of growing incidents of lynching in various parts of the country in the Delhi Assembly and charged the party of failing to protect the minorities and Dalits.

Initiating the debate on the second leg of the special session, AAP MLA Alka Lamba said 12 to 15 people were killed in the name of protection of cows and such incidents had taken place in the BJP ruled state. Ms Lamba said, “The BJP government at the Centre is sacrificing lives of people for protection of cows.”

“Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi give assurance that no such incidents will further take place? Why is this government torturing the Muslims and Dalits?” she questioned. On the rising cases of violence in Kashmir, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been enticing people in the name of religion.

“Even after the BJP formed the government, the situation in Kashmir continues to be critical and the ruling government is using the issue of cow protection,” she said. Ms Bharti alleged that the Prime Minister maintains “dual character” when it comes to the issue of protection of cows.

On the issue, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said, “Our Army personnel are dying at the border and the government is mute on the issue. The people who used to raise “Ghulam Kashmir humara hai” has forgotten about it.” Due to the ongoing turmoil, Mansarovar yatra has been affected, he said, adding, “But government is still maintaining silence.”
