BJP logoBJP has alleged that Rs. 50 lakh donation to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) by controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s NGO was a “bribe” to “shelter” his “anti-national” activities.

In its defence, RGF has said that donation was given not to the Foundation but to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and the money was returned a few months ago when the facts came to light about the organisation.

However, the spokesperson of Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) has maintained that the money was given to RGF only and not to any charitable trust.

IRF has also said that it hasn’t got its money back as yet.

After the new revelations, BJP has sharply attacked Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and the UPA govt.

BJP has questioned whether the money was taken as a bribe to shelter Zakir Naik’s anti-national activities.

Zakir Naik is accused of inciting Muslim youth to join terror activities through his provocative speeches.

Last month, Central govt. had ordered probe into funding of Zakir Naik’s NGO Islamic Research Foundation.
