ParikarDefence Minister Manohar Parrikar left for the United States today to hold bilateral meeting with US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter at Washington.

Mr Parrikar will meet his US counterpart Mr Carter at the Pentagon tomorrow, which will be followed by a joint press conference. Our correspondent reports terrorism and the signing of the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement is likely to top the agenda for talks.

The Defence Minister is also expected to bring up the instability that Pakistan’s involvement is creating in Jammu and Kashmir. This will be Mr Parrikar’s sixth meeting with Mr Carter. It comes just weeks after India was designated a major defence partner of the United States.
