India and Qatar today signed 7 agreements including investments, skills, health and tourism.
Agreements were signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a round table meeting with the leading businessmen of Qatar.

He addressed business leaders and praised the role of Emir of Qatar in promoting India Qatar business ties.

Inviting the businessmen in Qatar Prime Minister Modi said India is a land of opportunity. Qatar’s Minister of Trade & Economy welcomed Prime Minister Modi and sought more intensive economic engagement with India.

Prime Minister Modi assured the business leadership that he will address the bottlenecks identified by them.

Prime Minister Modi met Indian workers in Qatar, gave an inspiring speech to boost the spirits, but the most inspirational moment came after he finished his speech.

Prime Minister Modi interacted with the workers, walked up to them and personally spoke with them and then actually sat down to break bread with them.

Prime Minister Modi of India breaking bread with them was a historic and memorable moment of their life and the workers were overwhelmed by the grand gesture.

Prime Minister Modi hit the ground running in his tour of Qatar as he visited a medical camp for Indian migrant workers.

In his first engagement of the tour of Qatar, Prime Minister Modi gave a brief but inspiring speech to the gathered workers at the camp.

Even as he applauded the stellar role played by the workers in creating an image of India in the world, he also admitted that he was aware of the problems they face in day to day existence.

Further he gave assurance that he will do his best to take up the matters with authorities concerned.

Prime Minister Modi also acknowledged that many workers do need counseling after finding themselves rather lonely in a foreign land; also that diabetes is becoming a new challenge for them. His advice again rested on tried and tested method of yoga and meditation.

To Indian workers, Prime Minister Modi came across as an Indian who had not only come to meet them, but was well aware of the trials and tribulations of the workers in Qatar. He made an instant connect with the workers, speaking from the heart.

Prime Minister Modi made a short but powerful speech to the workers touched many subjects and issues which were close to the hearts of workers, and finally ended with an assurance to them that their prime minister is here and will pick up issues that they expect their pm to do.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Qatar PM Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani who held banquet in PM’s honour in Doha on Saturday night.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received ceremonial honours at Amiri Diwan in Doha on Sunday.

Prime Minister Modi and Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani lead delegation level talks. He also wished Emir happy birthday. He conveyed his greetings at the beginning of official talks.

After Qatar, Prime Minister Modi will be visiting Switzerland on Monday for a brief visit.

Exchange of high level visits in the recent past has provided an impetus to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
