Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invited Qatar’s business leaders to take advantage of investment opportunities available in India. During his meeting with business leaders Mr. Modi asked the businessmen to recognize India’s potential and assured them to address the identified bottlenecks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the role of Qatar’s Emir in promoting business ties. Inviting them for investment, Mr. Modi said, India is a land of opportunities and they should grab it. There is a vast potential for Qatar investment authority to increase its investment in India keeping in view of India’s huge investment needs and investment friendly policies.

Even Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund and other state owned entities are keenly looking at attractive investment options in infrastructure in India. During last two years there has been substantial increase in India’s exports to Qatar. Major items of exports include machinery, construction material, electronics, textiles, chemical, spices and cereals. India’s corporate sector is increasingly pursuing business opportunities in the Gulf nation.

Later Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation level talks with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Al Thani and Prime Minister Abdullah Bin Naseer Al Thani at Doha. Several agreements in various fields including skill development, investment, tourism, sports and youth affairs have been signed.

The discussions were focus on energy but various other aspects of the relationship also come up during the talks. He held discussions with business leaders and invited them for investment in India. Mr. Modi asked the businessmen to recognize India’s potential and assured them to address the identified bottlenecks.

A number of reputed Indian companies particularly in construction, infrastructure and IT sector have operations here. The Prime Minister will also interact with Indian community before leaving for Switzerland, his third leg of the 5 nation tour.
