Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said, shedding the holier-than- thou attitude is the key to overcoming world’s biggest concerns like global warming and terrorism. He was addressing the veledictory session of the three-day international conference on “Living the Right Way” on the sidelines of Simhastha-Kumbh mela in Ujjain.

Mr Modi said, the attitude or thinking that my way is more correct than others, is the thing which is dragging us towards conflict. Strongly opposing attempts at expansionism, he said this was not a solution to the problems. He said, one of the major issues faced by the world is conflict management but the Indians know how to resolve the conflict and cited mythology to highlight his point.

The Prime Minister along with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena today released 51-point ‘Simhastha Declaration’. Both leaders addressed the concluding session of the 3 day International Vichar Mahakumbh for the month-long Simhastha mela. 51 sacred points have been included in this declaration for betterment of mankind. In his address on the occasion, Mr. Modi said, these points will start new discourse not only in India but around the world. He also called on everybody to look within and see how all can grow themselves.

The Prime Minister also said, Knowledge is immortal and is relevant in every era. He appealed saints to hold Vichar Kumbh every year with devotees and discuss issues like the need to plant trees or educate the girl child. Calling the Kumbh as the biggest example of excellent management, he advised academic institutions to adopt Kumbh as a case study. He also used the occasion to praise the Election Commission for organising elections in a nation as big as India with many voters.

In his address, the Sri Lankan President spoke about the long standing relations between the two countries. Simhastha Kumbh Mela is one of world’s largest spirtual gatherings held once in 12 years when lakhs of devotees, including hundreds of sadhus, take dip in river Kishipra. The three-day conference, styled as “Vichar Mahakumbh”, is organised on the sidelines of the event to discuss issues like global warming, hazards of chemical farming and benefits of organic one and women empowerment among others.
