ECIA total of 595 candidates have filed nomination papers for the second phase of Assam assembly elections. 61 constituencies will go to polls in this phase on the 11th of April. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held tomorrow. Several senior leaders from different political parties are in the fray in this phase.

Former Chief Minister and Asom Gana Parishad leader PK Mahanta, sitting MLA Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Former President of State BJP Siddhartha Bhattacharya, former minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP legislator Ranjit Kumar Das are prominent among them. AIUDF President and MP Badruddin Ajmal and party MLA Abdur Rahim Khan, former ministers and BPF leaders Chandan Brahma and Pramila Rani Brahma, LDP leader Pradyut Bora have also filed their nominations. From the Congress, state ministers Rockybul Hussein, Nazrul Islam and Basanta Das’s political fate will also be decided in this phase.

From the Congress camp, ministers Rockybul Hussein, Nazrul Islam and Basanta Das’s political fate will also be decided.
