The US bombs Iran for the 12th consecutive night, killing at least two people and wounding 11 others in an attack on the Shalamcheh border crossing with Iraq.
The US military carried out 12th consecutive night of strikes against Iran as both sides increasingly targeted civilian infrastructure.
US Central Command once again said the attacks were designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters.
The move comes as the Americans push to regain control over the Strait of Hormuz and restore the flow of international shipping. President Donald Trump has warned that the US will destroy one bridge or power plant each time Iran shoots at a ship in the strait.
Iran’s foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, said his country will adopt an eye for an eye defence doctrine. He said that any aggression against Iran, including their infrastructure, will compel a powerful and decisive response.
Meanwhile Top Iranian military body Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has issued stark warning against targeting Iran’s infrastructure.
The headquarters warned that if US threats are carried out, Iran’s armed forces will not allow even a single drop of oil to be exported from the region, and that oil, gas, electricity, and economic infrastructure across the region could become targets.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reacted to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, stressing that any act of aggression against Iran would face a firm response.
Araghchi said Iran’s defense doctrine is clear: “an eye for an eye,” adding that any attack against Iran, including strikes on the country’s infrastructure, would be met with a “decisive, powerful, and determined response.”
The Iranian foreign minister also warned that any party involved in such an act of aggression or providing support for it in any form would be considered a legitimate target. He emphasized that Tehran would respond to any security threats against Iran.
