NEW DELHI: In a major move to sync technical education with next-generation technology, the Government is partnering with industry leaders to execute a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum.

The initiative took a significant step forward today when Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw chaired a high-level meeting with the AI Curriculum Taskforce in New Delhi. The deliberations primarily focused on bridging the gap between industry requirements and academic offerings, ensuring that future AI education aligns directly with rapidly evolving technological landscapes.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the task force has already conducted a thorough baseline evaluation of current Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Computer Science programs and allied curricula across Indian educational institutions. This extensive assessment was carried out in active collaboration with prominent industry experts and the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM).

The reimagined curriculum framework will center on four core pillars identified by the task force: application-oriented pedagogy, credit-linked curriculum integration, enhanced practical exposure, and the consistent embedding of responsible AI principles throughout the coursework. This strategic restructuring aims to create a future-ready workforce capable of leading global technological innovations.
