Tensions escalate as Israel launches ground raids into southern Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated limited, localized, and targeted operations against Hezbollah targets near the border, citing immediate threats to Israeli communities in the north.
These operations, part of what Israel calls “Operation Northern Arrows,” were approved by the political leadership and are being carried out according to a meticulously planned strategy.
The IDF reports that soldiers have been training for months in preparation for these raids. The ground forces are receiving support from the Israeli Air Force and Artillery, which are conducting precise strikes on military targets in the area.
The conflict has intensified on multiple fronts. Israel has launched more air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting several neighbourhoods after issuing evacuation orders to residents. The Lebanese Health Ministry reports that at least 95 people were killed in attacks on Lebanon on Monday alone.
Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas have confirmed the death of Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin, the head of Hamas in Lebanon. Israeli military sources state that Sherif was responsible for coordinating Hamas’s terrorist activities in Lebanon with Hezbollah operatives. The strike that killed Sherif was part of Israel’s operations in southern Lebanon.
An Israeli strike in the central Beirut neighbourhood of Kola on Monday resulted in the deaths of three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
The Palestinian armed group identified the casualties as Mohammad Abdel-Aal, the military security chief, Imad Odeh, the military commander, and Abdel Rahman Abdel-Aal, a fighter.
