Labour Party is inching towards landslide victory in UK’s parliamentary election. Party leader Keir Starmer is set to become Britain’s next prime minister defeating incumbent premier Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party.

Labour Party swept to power after more than a decade in opposition. As per the latest data, Labour has won 326 of the 650 seats, as counting of votes continued.

In his victory speech, 61-year-old Starmer said, people voted for it and change begins now.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak took responsibility of the loss in his acceptance speech, saying the British people have delivered a sobering verdict and there is much to learn.

Rishi Sunak Resigns From His Post Following General Election Result

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday (5th July 2024), resigned from his post following the General Election result. He will also be stepping down as the Conservative leader once the formal arrangements for choosing his successor are in place.

Accepting the responsibility for the Tories’ loss, Sunak apologised to voters for the party’s shocking performance. In a short speech after the resign, Sunak said that the UK was more prosperous, fairer and resilient than in 2010′ during the 14 years of Conservatives governance.  In UK General Election result declared on Friday (5th July 2024), Labour Party logged landslide victory and party leader Keir Starmer is all set to become the next British Prime Minister.
