Addressing the BJP Kisan Morcha meeting here Modi, whose name is linked to the killing of innocents in Forbesganj gave interesting excuse to justify the killing in Forbesganj, saying police firing could have been averted had the earlier regimes acted properly on the matter. He said that the land for the starch factory was acquired way back in 1984 and only fencing work was being done there on June 3.

He said that the state government had accorded top priority to agriculture and would not promote industry at the expense of farmers.

Though he did not talk about the compensation to the families of those killed in Forbesganj firing Modi  said the state government had launched a new land acquisition policy for industries and other projects and those who voluntarily provide land for the new industrial units would be entitled for compensation; two-and-a-half times more than the existing circle rates.
