BANGALURU: The political crisis in Karnataka deepens further after Chief Minister Yeddyurappa dropped two more ministers. He dropped Balachandra Jarakihole and Anand Asnotikar from the Ministry for dissident activities on Thursday.
The Karnataka Government is reduced to minority due to withdrawal of support by 19 Legislatures.
Negotiation with dissidents, who have now shifted to Goa, continues. Legislative party meetings of Congress and BJP were held in Bangaluru today.
After the meeting the Congress Party State President R V Deshpande said, they have no intention of toppling the Government but will vote against the Government on Monday on the floor of the House. BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu assured that the dissidence within the party will be quelled and Yeddyurappa will be able to prove majority on Monday.
An official statement issued by Karnataka Assembly Secretary A B Patil said the seventh session of the 13th Karnataka Assembly would begin on Monday, at 10 AM.
Earlier on wednesday the Karnataka Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj has asked the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to prove majority on the floor of the House by October 12.
Yeddyurappa government in state has reduced to minority following withdrawal of support by 19 MLAs from the government.
A Raj Bhawan release says that Governor has received letters in this regard from 14 BJP and five Independent MLAs.
Earlier, the Chief Minister in a press conference in Bangalore announced the dropping of four Ministers from his cabinet due to dissident activities. Among the ministers dropped, three are Independent MLAs who had initially supported the Government.
The four ministers are Agriculture Marketing and Small Scale Industries Minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi, Textile and Sericulture Minister Venkataramanappa, Social Welfare Minister P.M. Narayana Swamy and Youth Services and Prisons Minister D. Sudhakar.
Yeddyurappa claimed that efforts are on to end dissidence and asked those stationed in Chennai to come and discuss their problems.
Yeddyurappa has also criticised Deve Gowda and his sons Kumaraswamy and Revanna for encouraging dissidence activities and threaten that in the coming days his Government will expose details of land held by Gowdas and acquire them for development work.
