Three Months after the Chinese spy balloon episode, a new report has claimed that cyber hackers backed by the Chinese government have been spying on several critical infrastructures of the United States. The report was released jointly by the Western intelligence agencies and Microsoft. According to the reports, the US infrastructure under Chinese surveillance includes telecommunications, transportation hubs, and Guam island which is home to strategically important military bases among other installations. The US National Security Agency said it was working with partner nations like Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the UK to identify breaches. China, however, refuted the reports. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning termed the hacking allegations as a disinformation campaign by the Western nations. Mao claimed the campaign was launched by the U.S. for geopolitical reasons. She said that the United States remains the empire of hacking.
