A special air service started today for the jawans and officers of security forces deployed in Maoist affected areas of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh.

This air service will be exclusively for the security personnel going on leave.

The maiden flight took off from Maa Danteshwari Jagdalpur airport today at about 4.45 pm.

The special air service has started today on the initiative of the Union Home Ministry for the convenience of the personnel of various Central Armed Police Forces like CRPF and BSF, posted in Maoist-affected areas of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh.

A seventy-two-seater aircraft of a private airline will fly from Jagdalpur to Delhi via Raipur on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sundays of every week. This air service will be available only to the personnel of the paramilitary forces posted in the Maoist affected areas. Till now, this security personnel had to come to Raipur by road, and then they could reach their homes by train or plane.

But, now with the commencement of this air facility, the jawans posted in interior forest areas of Bastar will have a lot of ease in commuting to their homes on leave. In addition, their time will also be saved.
