Amidst the Corona pandemic and Lockdown, the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has taken an initiative to kick start the new Academic session from August 2020 through online mode of teaching and learning, much to relief to the students.
The step taken by CUSB administration to start the Academic session through online classes is one of the first institutions in the region to take such initiative.
According to CUSB Public Relation Officer, Mohammad Mudassir Alam the Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.C.S. Rathore took the decision as per the guidelines issued by MHRD and UGC. The Vice-Chancellor took the decisions after meeting with the Registrar Col. R. K. Singh (Retd.), Controller of Examinations (CoE) Mrs. Rashmi Tripathi and the Academic Council.

Mrs. Rashmi Tripathi, CoE said that the decision has been taken by the University administration keeping in mind the career progression and growth of the students. In the time of Covid-19 pandemic it was a challenging task for us to switch over to online teaching in March 2020. Timely activities for commencement of the new Academic session without causing further delay were also a matter of great concern for all of us so that students should not suffer.
Hence we took the decision to start the Academic session online from the first week of August with the help of the Learning Management System (LMS) of INFLIBNET. The online classes are conducted for the currently enrolled (current batch) old students of the University, and we are following the standard Academic Calendar for odd semester including all components including teaching, continuous evaluation, and end-Semester examination to be conducted in December. Also the salient feature of the CUSB online teaching is that the classes (lectures) can be recorded and uploaded on LMS for anytime access by the students and teachers.
There is a team of University officials and staff working tirelessly to ensure the smooth conduct of classes through LMS. Mr. Kumar Kaushal, Deputy Registrar and his team from Academic & Examination Section, Mr. Kshitiz Singh, Information Scientist and IT Team under supervision of Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh and many others are giving valuable support to make it possible, and they deserve to be applauded for it.
At the same time the students and teachers have also adapted well with LMS mode of online education which is equally praiseworthy. I feel that at the moment of the Corona crisis we have transformed the prevailing chaotic situation into an opportunity and the mode of teaching and learning adopted by CUSB may be a model to be followed by other institutions.
