Muslims across India today celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with simplicity and solemnity amidst Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions. The faithful offered prayers and thanksgiving Namaz in their homes instead of congregating at Eidgahs and Grand Mosques in compliance with nationwide lockdown norms. People also prayed the Almighty to free the world from the pandemic.

Perhaps for the first time, Eidgahs and mosques wore a deserted look on Eid day as the religious and other large gatherings are still prohibited under lockdown-4.

Several Muslim clerics, leaders, scholars and prominent personalities had appealed to people to offer Eid prayers at their homes adhering social distance.

The President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In his message, President Ram Nath Kovind said, the festival is an expression of love, peace, brotherhood, and harmony.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in his message said, the festival fortifies the spirit of compassion, charity and generosity in the society and it is an occasion for families and communities to come together.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped this special occasion furthers the spirit of compassion, brotherhood and harmony. He wished for everyone to be healthy and prosperous.

Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar have greeted the nation on the occasion.
