Arvind Kejriwal is all set to return as Delhi chief minister for a third consecutive term with the Aam Aadmi Party all set to storm back to power with over two-thirds majority, most exit polls have predicted soon after polling.
The BJP, which ran a polarising campaign to counter the AAP charge, will be reduced to an also-ran in this election while the Congress may be staring at yet another wipeout, the pollsters say.
If AAP wins the election this year, it would be a hat-trick for the party which had secured 67 out of 70 seats in the 2015 election. Despite securing all the seven parliamentary seats in the national capital during the 2019 general election, BJP was hoping to make a comeback after 20 years which had won only three seats in the last assembly while the Congress had none. Counting of votes will be held on Tuesday, February 11. If results come according to exit polls, then it would be a repeat of the 2014 general election results as the BJP had got all the seven Lok Sabha seats but got a drubbing at the hands of AAP in the assembly election.
The Polstrat-NewsX has predicted 53-73 seats for AAP, 11-17 for the BJP and 0-2 seats for the Congress. Other exit poll surveys are likely to be out any minute now with polling ending for the Delhi elections. The Republic-Jan Ki Baat exit poll has predicted 48-61 seats for AAP, 9-21 for the BJP and 0-1 for the Congress. The Times Now-Ipsos exit poll has predicted 44 seats for Aam Aadmi Party and 26 for the BJP. The city has recorded a voting percentage of 55%, significantly less than the 67% recorded in the 2015 elections. The majority mark in 70-seat Delhi assembly is 36.
AAP to Win 49-63 Seats in Delhi: ABP C-Voter | According to the ABP News C-Voter exit poll, AAP will win 49 to 63 seats in Delhi. BJP to win 5 to 19 seats and Congress to win 0 to 4 seats.
AAP to Win 53-57 Seats: Neta-NewsX Exit Poll | The Neta – NewsX exit poll predicts a huge victory for the Aam Aadmi Party once again. According to the exit poll, AAP will win somewhere between 53-57 seats out of the total 70 seats.
AAP: 53-57
BJP: 11-17
As per Election Commission guidelines, the media was barred from revealing the exit poll results between the voting hours of 8am and 6:30pm. While AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is seeking a third term as Delhi CM, the BJP and the Congress are hoping for a comeback in the national capital.
Over 1.47 crore people are eligible to exercise their franchise in the Delhi election that will decide the fate of 672 candidates in 70 assembly constituencies which are seeing a triangular contest among the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), opposition BJP and the Congress. The Delhi election results will be out on February 11, Tuesday when counting of votes is held.
