Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a nation-wide Fit India Movement from New Delhi on the occasion of National Sports Day. It is aimed at encouraging people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their day to day life.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said a fit and a healthy nation is the call of a New India. He urged people to lead Fit India campaign, saying the initiative is the need of the hour and it will take the country towards a healthier future.
Stressing the need to make fitness a mass movement, Mr Modi said that lifestyle diseases are caused due to lifestyle disorders and can be cured by changing lifestyle.
He said many lifestyle diseases, such as Diabetes and Hypertension, are spreading in the country, adding that small lifestyle changes can prevent them.
Mr. Modi said, today is also the day to congratulate India’s young players, who are constantly giving new glory to the tricolour at the world stage.
