Noted Social worker Swami Agnivesh was today assaulted by a group of people here  near BJP office when he had gone to pay respect to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose funeral took place today.

A video is being circulated on the social media showing a group of people chasing and pushing Agnivesh on the road. A woman can be seen raising her footwear at the 79-year-old saffron-clad social activist. He was then asked to get into a van by the Delhi Police. He has been moved to safety.

The mortal remains of Vajpayee were kept at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg in New Delhi for people to pay homage.

Thousands of people have visited the BJP central office to pay their tributes to the charismatic leader. However, the former Janata Party MP had to return without getting a glance of Vajpayee as he was beaten up near the BJP HQ.
