Pakistan forces again resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch districts today.

Defence sources told media in Jammu that Pakistani forces started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting some Indian positions and civilian areas in Manjakote sector of Rajouri district around 8 this morning.

Later around 9:30 am the forces across the LoC also started shelling in the adjoining Balakote sector of Poonch district. Army troops guarding the borderline retaliated the firing effectively and intermittently.

Exchange of fire was continuing when last reports came in. No report of any casualty or injury from the Indian side so far. In the wake of heavy shelling, the schools in the affected areas have been closed.
