The death toll from a suicide bombing at a wedding in the south east of Turkey has risen to 51. Speaking live in a televised address from Istanbul, Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, 51 people were killed and 69 others injured in the attack with 17 of them in critical condition. He said the suicide bomber was a 12-14-year-old child.

The bombing on Saturday night in Gaziantep, near Turkey’s border with Syria, was the deadliest attack in this year.

Turkey has been the target of attacks in the past year that have been claimed by Kurdish militants linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK or ISIS. The attack comes as the country is still reeling from last month’s failed coup attempt.
