Voting for first phase of Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh came to an end peacefully today. Barring some sporadic incidents of violence and disarray no major unpleasant occurrence was reported form any where in state.

Voting for members of Jila Panchayat and Kshetra Panchayat was held across the state in 73 districts except in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Agra.

The counting of votes will be held on first November after completing the election for all four phases.

Though incidents of mismanagement on booths, firing, scuffle and ballet snatching were reported from some places but the situation was later controlled.

Massive security arrangements made across the state. More than three lakh security personnel were deployed.

State Election Commissioner SK Agrawal briefing Media on Friday evening said today’s smooth election is a big achievement where no causality occurred.

He said Re-polling will be held only for 12 booths in state.

Sri Agrawal said the exact poll percent will come after tallying but it may remain around 65.

Today Allahabad High court’s decision of quashing of all petitions demanding this election procedure stopped has relaxed not only state government but cleared the way for this Panchayat election.
