Kerala reports highest single day surge in Covid cases with 141 people testing positive for the virus, today.

As the State reports over 100 cases for the fifth consecutive day, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the situation is getting serious and the fear of community spread exists.

Mr Vijayan informed that surveillance and preacuationary measures will be strengthened including deploying more health workers, conducting more covid test, also among people with no symptoms.

He further said the relaxations will be curtailed if the guidelines are not strictly followed. As covid cases are on a rise, the capital city Thiruvananthapuram to be under strict restriction for coming 10 days.

Shops in the city will be functioning on alternate days.

Token system will be implemented in markets and public to be restricted in Govt offices in the city premises.

Meanwhile bringing great relief 60 persons recovered from disease today in the State.

The total active Covid cases in Kerala reached 1620.
