Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane today said over one lakh 75 thousand educated and unemployed youth have been trained under the under Skill Development programme by the National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises-NIMSME in Hyderabad. He said over 6 thousand programmes have been held with an aim to provide employment opportunities to youth. Addressing after inaugurating the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Hyderabad based NIMSME virtually, the minister said the institute has trained over 5 lakh 45 thousand government employees of various states as part of diamond jubilee celebrations.
Minister of state for MSME, Pratap Singh Verma earlier laid foundation stone for the diamond jubilee building at the institute this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, he said NIMSME played key role in reviving the small and medium scale enterprises sector through skill upgradation, skilling and training programmes especially post COIVD-19. He further said small and medium enterprises sector played important role in revival of economy.
Referring to over 8 crore people who are self-employed across various sectors, the minister also lauded the NIMSME role in creating self-employment and implementation of programmes like Skill India. On the occasion, Mr Verma inaugurated an exhibition reflecting various skills and training programmes of the institute. The minister presented awards to the winners of national Innovation Competition and honoured former Director Generals of the institute.
