While many of his supporters have welcomed his decision to join politics, other fans are worried over losing a good journalist.  

“It is a big responsibility a big challenge” said Yusuf after joining the party. He also sought support from all his well wishers and common man.

The Peace Party of India, which largely banked on votes from the Muslims and backwards in Uttar Pradesh, made its presence felt last year when it secured more votes than Samajwadi Party and Congress in the UP by-elections.

The party claimed to have support of 70 percent Muslims and most backward communities in Uttar Pardesh.

At present, the party leads a seven party coalition in UP and hope to win over 140 seats in UP 2012 elections.

“So many parties have come to power in the last 63 years of independent India. They have completely neglected Muslims. They would woo the Muslims for their votes, but forget them the moment they came into power,” Dr Mohammad Ayub, the founder president of the peace said in New Delhi recently.
