Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his address at the World Economic Forum at Davos, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the Prime Minister should tell Davos why one per cent of India’s population holds 73 per cent of India’s wealth.
Quoting an Oxfam survey which said that the richest one per cent cornered 73 per cent of wealth generated in India in 2017, Mr Gandhi in a social media post, said, ‘Dear PM, Welcome to Switzerland! Please tell DAVOS why 1 per cent of India’s population gets 73 per cent of its wealth? I’m attaching a report for your ready reference.’
The attack by Mr Gandhi came at a time when Mr Modi is in Davos in Switzerland where he delivered his plenary address this afternoon.
