The second part of the Budget Session began on a stormy note today as Rajya Sabha witnessed hangama by opposition over the imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand.
Congress members forced repeated adjournments of the Rajya Sabha today on imposition of Central Rule in Uttarakhand saying that it amounted to murder of democracy.
The House witnessed two adjournments in the pre-lunch session on the issue. When the House re-assembled at 2 PM, the issue was again raised with the agitating Congress members trooping into the well shouting slogans against the Centre.
Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien asked the members to go back to their seats. He said the members can start discussion instead of shouting slogans in the well. Later,the house was adjourned for the day as noisy scenes continued.
The government has listed a heavy agenda for the session including passage of 13 bills in the Lok Sabha and 11 in the Rajya Sabha.
Discussion on demands for grants of various Ministries, consideration and passing of the Railways Appropriation and Finance Bills along with GST, Factories, Compensatory Afforestation and Enemy Property Bills are the main agenda of the session.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the Lok Sabha has said that all the crisis in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh was due to internal grievances in Congress there.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed hope for cooperation from the opposition in the smooth functioning of the second phase of budget session of parliament that began today and would continue till 13th May.
