The process of Assembly Elections is going, to begin in Uttarakhand with the issuance of notification on 21st of this month. The state will go to polls in Single-Phase on 14th of February. The counting of votes will be taken up along with other four states on 10th of March.

Uttarakhand has total 82,38,187 electors including 81,43,922 general and 94,265 service voters along with 68,478 PwD voters. The total strength of the house is 70 out of which 13 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes and two seats reserved for the Scheduled Tribes. Presently, there are two vacancies in the house.

In the single-phase elections held in 2017, Bharatiya Janata Party secured a thumping majority capturing 56 seats while Indian National Congress could manage to get 11 seats. Two independent candidates were also elected.

In the 2012 Assembly Elections, Indian National Congress emerged as a single largest party with 32 seats while Bharatiya Janata Party bagged 31 seats. Besides, Bahujan Samaj Party won three seats and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (P) got one while the independent candidates claimed the remaining three seats.
