The last rites of the 23-year-old Unnao rape victim was laid to rest in the fields belonging to her family, where the mausoleum (mazaar) of her grandparents is situated. A large number of local residents and officials were present.
Villagers from all walks of life paid their respects to the departed soul before the body was taken for the last rites.
The girl succumbed to her burn injuries at a Delhi’s Hospital.
Samajwadi Party leaders, UP Cabinet ministers Swami Prasad Maurya and Kamal Rani Varun were also present. Maurya said, “The government is with the aggrieved family.”
A large number of people and police along with administrative officials were present on the occasion.
State Minister of Labor and Employment Swami Prasad Maurya and Technical Education minister Kamal Rani Varun visited the bereaved family to console.
The State government provided a financial assistance of 25 lakhs rupees to the family members of the victim last night.
Commissioner of Lucknow division Mukesh Meshram said, two houses under Prime Minister Awas Yozna for family members will also be provided and a suitable job to one family member of the victim will be arranged.
