Trinamool Congress,TMC members in the Rajya Sabha today staged a walk out protesting against the suspension of their colleague Sukhendu Sekhar Roy yesterday by Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari on charges of indiscipline.

RSRaising the matter during Zero Hour today, Derek Obrien said that his colleague raised the Zero Hour mention from his seat only whereas several other members were raising slogans in the well of the House. He said that his party is not questioning the ruling of the Chairman.

Responding to this, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said that he is not able to say anything on the ruling of the Chairman. Later, TMC members walked out of the House. In his Zero Hour mention, Bhupender Singh of Biju Janata Dal urged the government that Kohinoor diamond be brought back to India. He said it should be handed over to Jagannath temple as per the will of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. His party colleague A U Singhdeo demanded that army Jawans, who complete more than 14 years of service should be given pension.

Sharad Yadav of the JD(U) pleaded with the government to appoint more judges for higher judiciary. He was supported by Sitaram Yechury of the CPIM. Responding to this, Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told the House that he would convey the feelings of the members to the Law and Justice Minister. Dr Satyanarayan Jatia of the BJP called for a new law to prevent dowry death cases in the country. Later, the House took up the question hour.
