Cricket icon and Rajya Sabha member Sachin Tendulkar has sanctioned two crore rupees from his MPLADS fund for revamp of rail foot overbridges, FOB in Mumbai. It comes in the backdrop of the Elphinstone Road station stampede.
In a letter to Railway Minister, Tendulkar said, he is requesting the Mumbai suburban district collector to authorise the sum for constructions.
He said, a crore rupees each may be alloted to Western Railway and Central Railway.
He said, the recent incident at the Elphinstone Road station on Western Railway where innocent lives were lost in a stampede was devastating, and he is moved to offer immediate support for the improvement of services for the Mumbaikars.
