Normal life has been disrupted in several districts of Assam in the wake of dawn to dusk state-wide bandh. At least 10 organizations including the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad have called for 12 hours bandh protesting the Centre’s decision to shelter minority people from Bangladesh in the country without valid documents on humanitarian ground. Public buses are off the roads including in Guwahati.

Educational institutes, business establishments and private offices remain closed in several places due to the bandh. Police detains some protesters in Guwahati as well as in other towns. However, train and air services have not been disrupted as of now in the state. BJP and several organizations from Barak valley welcomed this decision of the Centre. But Asom Gana Parishad , All Assam Students Union, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti among others have opposed the move of the Centre.
