MehboobaUncertainty over the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, continue even as the delegations of PDP and BJP called on Governor N.N. Vohra at Raj Bahwan in Jammu this evening to apprise their party’s stands on the issue.

Talking to media persons the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti who led the party delegation, said the government that will assume power in the state must have something concrete to address the basic issues of people of all the three regions of the State.

Centre should take some confidence building measures if govt is to be formed with BJP in J and K, she said. Ms. Mehbooba, however refrained from giving details of her meeting with the governor. She stressed on more confidence building measures for Jammu and Kashmir.

Later after meeting the Governor, the BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of the State, Dr. Nirmal Singh told media persons that BJP is in favour of taking forward the agenda of alliance with PDP. He added that constitutionally BJP could only go ahead in the process of government formation only after it is initiated by the major partner of the coalition, PDP.

He further said that the party has sought ten days time from the Governor to come up with a final decision in this regard. Governor N N Vohra had called PDP BJP leaders for the meeting, asking them to clarify their stand on formation of government. Jammu and Kashmir is under Governor’s rule since January 8th, after the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
