Congress President Sonia Gandhi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide immediate support to workers in the informal sector.
In a letter, Ms Gandhi requested him to consider advising emergency welfare measures by the state-building and other construction workers’ boards to roll out emergency welfare measures, particularly wage support, to workers in distress.
She said, over 44 million construction workers are now faced with a precarious future and many are stranded in cities deprived of livelihoods.
