AMN — With the administration conceding to all the demands of the agitating members of Sikhs, the situation in the Jammu region is limping back to normal. At a high-level meeting with the representatives of the community Friday, top civil and police brass agreed to all the main demands put forth by them and ordered transfer of the SSP Jammu, an inquiry into entire episode by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, suspension of some police officers, release of the youth arrested in connection with the two-day long protest, 5 lakh rupees compensation and job to the kin of the youth, who was killed in firing on Thursday.
Prohibitory orders are, however, still in place in the entire Jammu district, and there is no report of any untoward incident or fresh protests from anywhere.
One civilian was killed while 25 others, including some policemen, were injured in clashes when members of the community protested the removal of a hoarding by police in Satwari area in the outskirts of Jammu city earlier this week.
