Jammu and Kashmir government has taken several pro-active measures to strengthen the grassroot level delivery system across the towns and villages of Jammu and Kashmir. One of the significant programmes that needs a special mention is the “Back to Village” programme that was launched in June last year in a first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir.

During this ambitious programme, the entire Union Territory administrative apparatus of the government moved out of their provincial and district level offices and reached out to the people living in the villages.

The Back to Village programme saw more than 5000 senior officials of the administration visiting the far-flung villages of the UnionTerritory to access and resolve the problems faced by the rural population and to address the issues related to developmental works.

Moreover, 15 new colleges were also established in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to strengthen the educational sector in the rural areas and to increase the percentage of students availing the Higher Education.
