SCThe Supreme Court today ordered CBI probe into all cases related to Vyapam scam and alleged deaths related to the scam. Apex Court has  issued notice and sought response of Centre and the state government on a plea for removal of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav for his alleged involvement in the scam. The court also issued notice to the Governor.

A bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu clarified that all cases will be transferred to the CBI from Monday and the agency will file its report before it on 24th of this month. The apex court slammed Madhya Pradesh High Court and said it is washing its hands off the Vyapam scam as it could have ordered a CBI probe.

Before handing over the probe to the CBI, the apex court took on record the submission of Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, who on behalf of the MP government, said that the state has no objection on transferring the investigation of the cases for free and fair probe.

BJP and Congress have welcomed the decision of Supreme Court on Vyapam. party spokesperson G V L Narasimhavyapam said, the probe by the premier investigating agency will help clear the air related to the scam. Congress leader Digvijay Singh said that apex court’s decision has further strengthened the faith of the people in the judiciary. Singh, however reiterated party’s demand for the the resignation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He said, candidates languishing in jails allegedly involved in the scandal should be made government approve so that nexus of middlemen in the scam could be unearthed.

The Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal is a government body for conducting exams to recruit for government jobs and finalises admissions to professional courses. The scam is related to rigging of the exams in which bureaucrates, politicians and middlemen are allegedly involved. More than 45 accused in the scam have died even as probe agencies struggle to unravel it.
