INDIA’S External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today assured the parliament that the GOVERNMENT would do everything possible to ensure the safety and security of Indian Diaspora and all Indians who are abroad.
Making a statement in Lok Sabha on the recent attacks on Indians in the United States, Mrs Swaraj said, there had been widespread condemnation by the US leadership, both in the Administration and the Congress, on the killing of two Indians and attacks on two others in separate incidents.
The Minister said, the government had taken up the issue with the US Government at very high-levels and conveyed deep concerns. She said, people-to-people contacts are the foundation on which the India-US strategic partnership has been built.
Last month, an Indian engineer, Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead in Kansas. Another Indian Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot, an American national, who tried to stop the shooting, were also shot and injured during the incident.
Earlier this month, a US national of Indian origin Harnish Patel was shot dead by unknown individuals in Lancaster, South Carolina. Deep Rai, another Indian American, was shot by an unknown person in Kent, near Seattle in Washington State, allegedly after being asked to leave the country.
