Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has said the resignations of top BJP leaders are necessary if the government wants Parliament to function smoothly. Mr Gandhi told reporters this afternoon that the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had extended help to Lalit Modi while hiding the facts. He alleged that financial transactions took place between the family of Ms Swaraj and the fugitive Lalit Modi. He said the Prime Minister is completely ignoring the fact that there is a business relation between Lalit Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

On the other hand, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy criticized Mr Gandhi. Mr Rudy said, the Congress stood completely isolated in the House as other opposition parties in the Lok Sabha favoured discussion. He said, if Rahul Gandhi wants to raise issues then he must speak in the Parliament and not outside.
