Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu today took trial of the multi location proceedings of monsoon session of the House.

In preparation for such a session, Mr Naidu today went through the familiarization drill related to proceedings of the House including members seeking to raise various issues from different locations by raising hands, Points of Order and participating in Voice Vote.

To comply with the physical distancing norm, Rajya Sabha members will be seated in the Chamber and four galleries of the House and the Chamber of Rajya Sabha.

It requires the Rajya Sabha Chairman to keep a close eye on six different locations from where the members will be participating in the proceedings.

Mr Naidu also tested audio quality along with simultaneous interpretation during participation of Rajya Sabha members.

As a backup, a hotline communication facility has been set up between the chambers of the two Houses for communicating any message regarding participation of members in case of any technical emergency.
