rajya sabhaThe Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die today after a brief sitting. Soon after it met for the day, the House bade farewell to 3 of its members who are going to retire in a few weeks. P. Kannan of the Congress from Pondicherry will be retiring on 6th October while two nominated members, Dr Ashok S. Gangooli and H K Dua are completing their tenure on 17th November.

Making a reference to their association with the House, Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari said they significantly contributed to its deliberations and enhanced its dignity. He wished them good health, happiness and success in their future endeavours.

Speaking on the occasion, H K Dua said tolerance has been missing in the House, of late. He urged the Treasury and Opposition benches to evolve a consensus on running Parliament smoothly.
