“I want to make it clear that neither I nor Advaniji went (jail) to meet her,” Singh said at a conference organised by an ETV Urdu here.
Singh was heckled during the speech when he said that terrorism had no colour and there was nothing like Islamic terrorism and saffron terrorism and any such term should be condemned.
The members of audience asked him, “If he does not believe in giving colour to terrorism, then why he and his party leader Advani met Pragya Singh who is an accused in the Malegoan blast case?” Singh said that Advani or he himself never met Pragnya Singh.
However, Rajnath Singh was shown sitting along with Sadhvi Paragya in a photograph before her arrest.
When the case against sadhvi started unfolding, the then party president Rajnath Singh said that he didn’t know Sadhwi Pragya Singh Thakur and that she was never linked to the BJP or the Parivar. The ABVP flatly denied that she was its member.
Soon the photographs of Pragya appeared in papers. Her links with top BJP leaders was established. Uma Bharati’s group who are fighting against the BJP, were now standing up for Pragya, claiming her innocence.
